Hey.

After some time away from photography, I am back with a new site and even camera. Hopefully through this site I can inspire and help others in their photography journey.

Chasing a new business venture, almost 10 years ago I left what was at the time becoming a successful career in photo-journalism. Claiming magazine covers, winning national awards, featured photographs of international superstars at global events. Action, sports and motorsports were my main passions. Portraiture, wedding, street and still life, even game development, dogs, wildlife and the odd landscape got a look in. I would surely have surprised my old English school teacher by penning somewhat eloquent and rather long articles, features and interviews which were often published in support of my photography work, or even vice verca.

Present day though finds me a little jaded in the aftermath of a failed business venture which I gave all this up for. A rather woeful saga consisting of the usual suspects of bad luck, bad choices, deceipt, lies, failed funding and some unscrupulous people … a global pandemic didn’t help either and brought with it further health and life issues.

My business venture was way more than full time and closely related to my photography work, which left me unable or reluctant to pick up a camera for a long time. It was not that I’d lost my love for photography, I was simply burnt out and afterwards sickened by events that had taken place. For a long time the camera was a reminder of all the negativity, and what could or should have been.

More recently though, simply by walking around and using the camera on my phone, I began to get inspired, experimenting and trying to take creative photographs once more. I’ve also traded up some old pro kit to invest in a small and compact, yet very capable “EDC” camera. My goal was a more lightweight system and workflow, shoot n share. So after 35 years with Canon I’ve decided to jump ship to the Fuji series of cameras with their creative in-camera film recipes.

Time to push the negativity back and see where all this goes. Launching this site is purely aimed at having an outlet and somewhere to share my photos. No expectations, no goals, just shoot n share in the hope that someone, somewhere appreciates and enjoys the photos, an maybe even becomes inspired by something I have done here.
